Pre-Sale & Rental Inspection

In June of 2021, the City Council approved a Pre-Sale and Rental Inspection Program that requires owners of real estate to first obtain a pre-sale inspection and a certificate of occupancy before selling to new owners and/or leasing to new tenants, to ensure compliance with the City of Franklin Property Maintenance, Fire, and Zoning Codes. The overall goal of the program is to increase property values, reduce nuisance and blight, and reduce crime.  Our mission is to perform fair, standardized, comprehensive inspections of Franklin properties in order to promote high property values, eliminate health and safety hazards, and make the City of Franklin a more desirable community. Please view Chapter 1375 of the Municipal Code, Pre-Sale Inspection And Certificate Of Occupancy Required For New Owners And Tenants.

Please remember that the State of Ohio requires owners of rental property to register their rental properties with the County Auditor. Information on registering is available from the Warren County Auditor at 513-695-1235, or on the Auditor's website.

If you have questions about the Residential Rental Inspection Program or would like to schedule an inspection, please call the Code Enforcement Office at (513) 315-7401 or via email at mfreukes@safebuilt.com
